Advanced Open Water

Overview
This is a programme designed to build both the confidence and experience of any Open Water Diver. You can go straight onto this programme from the Open Water Course to gain additional techniques whilst enjoying a variety of experiences. You’ll be able to choose 3 different areas of diving as well as the Deep and Navigation dives already incorporated. Upon completion you’ll achieve the Advanced Open Water qualification which opens up an area of diving to a depth of 30 Metres.

Structure
The Advanced Open Water course takes 2 days to complete with most programs being offered once a month. Generally most divers are looking to complete dives relevant to their own environment and with this in mind; our monthly programs held at Stoney Cove in Leicestershire incorporate the following dives. Although there are no formal classroom sessions to complete, short knowledge reviews from your Adventures in Diving manual are held with your instructor prior to each dive.

Buddy Checks at Stoney Cove

Day 1
Initially, the start of the day will be spent reviewing your knowledge of the dives with your instructor. Following this we’ll kit up getting ready to embark on the first dive.

Peak Performance Buoyancy (PPB): An ideal first dive to teach you all the techniques for perfect in-water manoeuvrability.

Multi-Level Dive: Your second dive of the day will show you how to extend your bottom times by planning multi-level dives using the RDP Wheel and Dive Computers.

Navigation Dive: This compulsory dive will teach you the techniques for plotting your underwater bearings effectively. It focuses on tracking and targeting your route to efficient and successful diving.

Day 2

Again you start the day with your instructor reviewing your knowledge of the up and coming dives. After kiting up you’ll be ready for the first dive of the day.

Deep Dive: This compulsory dive will be the first deep dive completed on the programme. You’ll see how depth affects every aspect of your diving and trying out simple tasks on the surface and at depth to see the differences. This is a fabulous dive to experience and will really boost your in-water confidence; you’ll be amazed at yourself!

Wreck Dive: The most popular dive to experience with many divers going on to become specialist divers in this area. This dive will give you an insight into the surreal and exciting world of wreck diving adventures.
